One of the hidden diseases affecting modern families and communities: selfishness. The khutbah explored how excessive focus on “me, myself, and I” damages relationships, weakens marriages, distances children from their parents, and creates emotionally disconnected homes.

Drawing from the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and inspiring stories of the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions, the khutbah highlighted the Islamic value of īthār (selflessness) — preferring others over oneself even during hardship. The examples of the Anṣār, Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq رضي الله عنه, and the generosity of the Prophet ﷺ reminded believers that true success and happiness are found in giving, not taking.

The khutbah also delivered an important message to parents and youth: generosity, gratitude, and service must be actively taught and practised within the home. Small daily acts of kindness, sadaqah, emotional presence, and care for parents can transform hearts and strengthen communities.
