CMC Media release - Prayer at Mosque

Assalaamu alaikum all:
Consistent with the Government's revised measures around COVID-19 restrictions – effective Saturday 30 May 2020 – we are delighted to continue using our Gungahlin Masjid for 5 daily prayers including Jumuah based on the following revised rules:
1.      "No more than 20 people" at a time will be allowed to pray on the masjid premises, excluding the people conducting the prayers/services;
2.      Masjid door will be closed once we have 20 people inside the hall (applicable to all prayers including Jumuah);
3.      Masjid will be "open for prayer times only" and will be closed soon after the prayer;
4.      Come prepared (make wudu at home, as toilet facilities will be unavailable at this stage);
5.      Bring your own prayer mat;
6.      Maintain the 1.5m social distancing rules at all times;
7.      People over 65 or vulnerable (i.e. those with existing health conditions) should refrain from attending the Masjid;
8.      Sisters are not allowed at this stage due to restricted entry into the area for ongoing construction work;
9.      Children under 12  are not allowed at this stage; and most importantly
10.     Stay home if you are sick/not well or have flu like symptoms.

Note that the 20 person rule applies to the whole Gungahlin Masjid premises as it is considered one venue. We have sought exemptions to this rule with the ACT Health that additional 20 people, whilst maintaining 1.5m social distancing rule, be allowed for us to pray each at the Verandah and upper floor. We will InShaAllah advise the community if these exemptions are granted.
